Just eating more fruits and vegetables may not be enough. You may have to eat specific ones in a specific way to get health benefits. Take the case of two potential cancer-fighting vegetables: broccoli and tomatoes; too much cooking can remove valuable water-soluble compounds in broccoli, while tomatoes that are cooked are better absorbed by the body. Just eating more produce may not be enough. One study showed that those who ate more produce but did not exercise did not gain a benefit.
