Your Outboard Brain Knows All
Younger people nowadays retain fewer facts because they have come to rely on storage devices like cell phones, PDAs and computers to store certain information. Why bother remembering details when they can be looked up in an instant, at any time? The question is whether this is a boon or a bane. One the one hand, this can theoretically free up valuable brain space and processing power while adding a vast store of knowledge to a person's arsenal of information at the same time. On the other hand, this could actually results in people becoming less knowledgeable and maybe even stupider as they store less and less information, leaving them crippled and helpless once they find themselves without the technology they have become so dependent upon. This is the dilemma we now face as real-life cyborgs.
